INCLEMENT WEATHER PREPARATION
July 2021
Please take some time to familiarize yourself with the information in this correspondence that will aid you in the event that school is dismissed early or canceled due to inclement weather, emergencies, etc... As you plan for days in which school is canceled, we also ask that you have a plan of action for days in which school is dismissed early due to inclement weather or emergencies.
The following communication mediums could be used to get the word out about any inclement weather announcements or emergencies in case of a change in the normal school day. We will use as many as time permits. All communication mediums may not be used each time. The communication mediums most used will be KFVS Channel 12 and our SchoolMessenger automated calling, email, and/or text messaging through the school.
Television and Computer On-Line: KFVS Channel 12 www.kfvs12.com
Automated Calling, Text Message and/or Email: SchoolMessenger
Possible Communication Mediums Used: Radio
KGKS FM 93.9; KGMO FM 100.7; KEZS FM 102.9; KREZ FM 104.7; KXKZ FM 106.1
Since our SchoolMessenger service pulls numbers/emails from our student database, all you will need to do is to make sure that your email(s) and phone number(s) are up to date with the school. This can be done by contacting our school secretary, Mrs. Melanie Watkins, at 334-3644. Should you choose to receive text messages, you will need to reply “YES” to the test text message from 67587 for that service. To ensure you are receiving text messages, you may also text the number, 67587, for a test message then reply with a Y or YES. If you are already receiving text messages, then you will receive a message saying that you have already opted in.
As with any decision in regard to the early dismissal, postponing, or canceling of school, please understand that the decision is not made lightly. We must take multiple factors into consideration when making this type of decision. Rest assured that student safety is our top factor when considering whether or not to dismiss, postpone, or cancel school. We ask that you do not call the school or any personnel, as the telephones, whether landline or cellular in nature, need to be free for school personnel to use to make decisions and communicate those decisions.
Sincerely,
Bleau Deckerd
Superintendent
